LOCATION: Green Bay

STANDARD HOURS:  37.5 Hours per week; Typical hours Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.; Flexibility required to include other evening and/or weekend hours, as necessary.

STARTING PAY RANGE: $22.90 - $24.69 per hour

*Salaries/Wages for all finalists (internal and external) will be placed within the range based upon education, experiences, current wages, and internal equity.

 

POSITION SUMMARY 

The Student Leadership & Development Specialist plays a pivotal role in fostering student engagement and leadership development at NWTC. This position is responsible for providing oversight and support for all student clubs and organizations. Key duties include training and mentoring student club officers and faculty/staff advisors to ensure effective and inclusive student organizations. The Specialist serves as the primary advisor to the Green Bay campus Student Leader Forum, guiding student representatives in leadership development, governance, and advocacy. The role also includes regular travel to Wisconsin Student Government (WSG) meetings across the Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS), supporting student leaders in statewide collaboration and policy discussions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

  • Maintain the NWTC Student Club Handbook and recommend improvements and revisions on a regular basis.
  • Develop training materials and facilitate annual professional development sessions for club advisors and student officers. Work closely with key internal departments ensuring information and processes are accurate and up to date – particularly related to Title IX, Student Conduct, and Drug Free Schools.
  • Collaborate with the Manager of Student Involvement to ensure all student clubs, members, and advisors remain in compliance with the Club Handbook, the Student Handbook, and all applicable college policies and procedures.
  • Maintain and reconcile all student club accounts and expenses, while ensuring college processes and policies are being followed.
  • Serve as the day-to-day contact for club advisors and officers while assisting with budget, travel, fundraising, and general student club questions.
  • Collaborate closely with NWTC’s Community Lounges to promote and encourage student participation in leadership development opportunities, including the Student Leader Forum and student clubs.
  • Identify and promote volunteer and civic engagement opportunities within the college and the broader community, encouraging student clubs to participate in meaningful service experiences that foster leadership, social responsibility, and real-world application of co-curricular learning outcomes.
  • Support the creation of new student clubs by guiding interested students through the establishment process and collaborating with potential club advisors.
  • Plan and implement large scale events for students including, but not limited to, kick-off days, club and student involvement fairs, and the annual student awards and recognition ceremony.
  • Collaborate with staff from all NWTC Campuses and Regional Learning Centers for the planning and implementation of co-curricular programming and activities, ensuring consistency with a district-wide focus.
  • Work closely with members of the Student Involvement team in supporting the planning, marketing, and implementation of co-curricular programming and activities, including graduation and awards and recognition ceremonies.
  • Assist with office duties such as front desk coverage, answering the main office phone, and providing service to walk-in customers as needed.  

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of bachelor’s associate’s degree in Communication, Event Planning, Human Services, or related field.
  • Two years of strong customer service-related experience.
  • Microsoft Office Suite, Database Management System (Workday preferred)
