Day to day as a Senior Accountant

As a key player in our accounting team, you'll assist the CFO, Senior Controller, and Controller in meticulously preparing and maintaining the financial records for both the bank and the holding company. Your contributions will be vital in meeting shareholder and regulatory requirements, ensuring we uphold our commitment to transparency. You'll also take charge of reconciliations, helping to create complex calculations and advanced reporting that informs our strategic decisions.

To thrive as a Senior Accountant, you'll need a solid foundation in accounting, ideally with a Bachelor's or Associate degree and 3-5 years of relevant experience. Your ability to read, analyze, and interpret various business documents, from professional journals to governmental regulations, will be key in supporting our financial reporting. Strong writing skills are essential as you'll create reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals that help maintain our high standards of accountability.

You should be comfortable with mathematical concepts, including probability and statistical inference, while also possessing thorough knowledge of various PC applications. Problem-solving skills are critical, as you'll often navigate complex variables in diverse situations. Additionally, understanding Federal, State, and Local tax laws and regulatory requirements, along with having excellent verbal communication skills, will empower you to connect effectively with your colleagues.

Knowledge and skills required for the position are:

  • Bachelor's or Associate degree in accounting preferred and 3-5 years of related experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
  • Thorough knowledge of PC applications, including spreadsheets, word processing, and database management.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Knowledge of Federal, State, and Local tax laws and regulatory requirements.
  • Good verbal communication skills as evidenced by the ability to interact both face to face and over the telephone with co-workers.
  • Detail oriented and ability to work with minimal supervision.
