Risk Management, Safety and Security Specialist

LOCATION:  Green Bay

STANDARD HOURS:  40 hours per week. Typical hours Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm; Flexibility required to include other evening and/or weekend hours, as necessary.

SALARY RANGE: $69,344 - $74,738 per year

*Salaries/Wages for all finalists (internal and external) will be placed within the range based upon education, experiences, current wages, and internal equity.

POSITION SUMMARY 

Provide oversight, management, and continuous development of the NWTC district-wide health and safety services with the mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of NWTC. Reduce overall liability and exposure of the College. Oversee and implement all aspects of the NWTC district-wide Safety department and be the single point of contact for the college’s insurance companies. Assist with administering the college's electronic incident report system, electronic badge/electronic door access program and camera surveillance system. Conduct classroom presentations for related topics.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

Risk Management & Safety

  • Provide leadership in Safety as it relates to students, visitors, and staff members.  Conduct training, safety audits/inspections, and risk management evaluations, documentation, etc.
  • Act as a claims manager and maintain regulatory compliance on behalf of NWTC by reviewing, investigating, processing, and responding to claims that are made related to accidents, injuries, or property damage.
  • Lead insurance policy renewals and applications.  Collect, update, and manage data for policies as required by the Insurance provider.
  • Ensure College compliance with Insurance provider(s), about policy renewals, claims management, etc.
  • Carry out workplace/classroom safety evaluations for NWTC employees and curriculum/programming.
  • Provide leadership to the NWTC Safety Team and employees through the development and enforcement of policies, procedures, and programs relating to safety.
  • Maintain compliance with Safety Data Sheet (SDS) regulations.
  • Provide training and certification renewals for NWTC employees to maintain credentials.
  • Coordinate hazardous waste, universal waste, and biohazardous waste disposal activities to ensure compliance.
  • Monitor safety budgets district wide.  Track revenues and expenses to ensure operation within budget.
  • Manage emergencies as consultant during relevant incidents when the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) is activated.
  • Provide oversight of the Medical Response Team and equipment.
  • Provide oversight of life safety equipment testing and repairs. I.g. egress lighting, fire alarm systems, and areas of rescue.
  • Participate in Wisconsin Technical College System meetings for Environmental Health and Safety and Risk Management.

 

Security

  • Assist with the day-to-day operations of the team to ensure customer needs are met.
  • Serve as a back up to the security supervisor.
  • Work with the Manager of Security and other departments as well as applicable teams to review and develop policies and procedures.
  • Assist with district wide electronic building access, employee ID badge access and security camera system.
  • Mentor employees by fostering an environment where skills are developed, by role modeling appropriate behavior, and by instilling confidence. Foster teamwork by demonstrating consistent interaction with all team members.
  • Assist with the Administration of the college electronic Incident Report program.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred in a related field
  • Minimum three years’ experience in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Health & Safety, Risk Management, or Safety Leadership within the past 3 years.
  • Microsoft Office to include Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license and be insurable under the District’s standard insurance policy terms.
