Warshafsky, Rotter, Tarnoff & Bloch, S.C. (also known as Warshafsky Law Firm) is seeking its next full-time paralegal. Warshafsky is a well-known personal injury law firm that has been representing injured individuals since 1952. The ideal candidate has a background in civil litigation and will assist attorneys in preparing a case from the initial claim intake through trial. The ideal candidate will possess excellent client communication skills, understand personal injury claims and the process, and is passionate about helping our clients seek justice.
Responsibilities:
- Meet with client for intake and provide updates to client throughout the life of the claim/case
- Open client files, initiate insurance claims, draft medical summaries and demand letters
- Oversee obtaining medical and billing records
- Review and summarize medical records and create medical treatment itemizations
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, correspondence.
- Work with attorney to schedule depositions and mediations
- Prepare materials and exhibits for depositions
- Review file for outstanding discovery in preparation for court appearances, pleadings, depositions, and trial preparation
- Determine, prepare and organize material needed for expert witness review
- Trial preparation, including determination and preparation of exhibits, witness materials, and pre-trial filings
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in paralegal studies, a paralegal certificate, or a bachelor’s degree in any field required.
- Ideal candidate has 5+ years’ experience working as a paralegal
- Personal injury experience preferred but not required
- Detail-oriented, responsible, and organized
- Must be able to prioritize tasks for multiple attorneys
- Experience with pretrial discovery, hearings, arbitration and trial preparations are helpful
- Ability to manage multiple competing deadlines required
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and document management systems
- Must be able to work independently and be proactive.
- Must be able to handle confidential matters with discretion
- Must demonstrate empathy and understanding for clients
