NATURE AND SCOPE
This position reports to the Senior Manager, Consumer Underwriting. The Indirect Loan Underwriting Manager is responsible for the timely and thorough underwriting of auto, powersport, motorcycle, marine products as well as other assigned products. Ensures the quality of underwriting by maintaining awareness of federal/state regulations and company guidelines, policies, and procedures. Leads the indirect loan underwriting team in achieving goals through coaching, development, and training.

REQUIREMENTS
1. Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 5 years of progressive experience processing and/or underwriting indirect or consumer loans with at least 2 years managing loan underwriters. Equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
2. Experience with Indirect lending or consumer loan underwriting structures within a financial institution.
3. Demonstrated success in leading a team to achieve business results and goals.
4. Demonstrated knowledge of lending/compliance regulations, underwriting guidelines and document requirements.
5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently.
6. Ability to use independent judgment and discretion in various situations while maintaining a high degree of confidentiality.
7. Must have a flexible schedule, with the ability to work some evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
8. Must develop a thorough understanding of company policies and procedures as they relate to the position. Must comply with all company policies and procedures and job-related state and federal laws and regulations.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Responsible for the development and training plan as well as onboarding, continuing education, development plans, recognition, corrective action, and reviews of document preparation staff.
2. Regularly conducts one on one meetings, team meetings, coaching/development plan sessions and performance evaluations in a timely manner with appropriate follow-up documentation.
3. Works with the Senior Manager, Consumer Loan Underwriting to set goals and objectives, execute the business plan and analyze, improve and implement results in the areas of loan decisioning, quality, service, process improvement, technology and operations.
4. Analyzes and reviews files for accuracy, thoroughness, and completeness. Reviews and escalates issues to management for further review.
5. Reviews metrics (Key Performance Indicators and Service Level Agreements) with procedures to implement changes when necessary to maximize efficiency and performance.
6. Establishes, maintains, and leads the Indirect underwriting policies, procedures, processes, and compliance standards and ensures that documentation complies with regulations, policies and procedures.
7. Participates and provides support as needed to new and existing projects within the department and credit union as needed.
8. Assists, presents, and discusses informational topics at department meetings and training.
9. Monitors the pipeline and incoming volumes to ensure all work is delivered within service level expectations while ensuring compliance and regulatory standards are being adhered to.
10. Collaborates with other departments to recommend and implement improvements and/or changes.
11. Reviews processes to reduce the number of errors.
12. Performs other duties as assigned.
