Lead Carpenter

Number of Hours: 30-40 per week

Rate of Pay: $45-50/hour

Schedule: Generally 8am to 5pm M-F for field work, not to exceed 10hr/day

Reports To: Project Management, General Manager

Begins: Monday, March 17, 2025


Lead Carpenter Job Requirements and Responsibilities:

Communication

● Act as the go between Project Managers and Support Carpenters, relaying all pertinent

information to keep projects on track for completion

● Update Discord as projects progress, along with EOD photos of job site

● Alert Project Managers whenever the scope of work on a project is expected to exceed

original estimate for a project

● Alert Project Managers of personnel issues

● Alert Project Managers of customer communications that relate to scope of work

Project Management

● Works closely with Project Management Team to ensure time and materials are acquired

and tracked accordingly

● Works closely with Project Management Team to create weekly and monthly project and

team schedules

● Studies specifications in blueprints, sketches, or building plans to prepare project layout

and determine dimensions, materials, and labor required.

● Manages Subcontractor scheduling and scope of work in conjunction with Project

Managers

● Manages/schedules building inspections

● Participates in new job launches in conjunction with Project Managers

● Communicates with customers as to daily arrival time and provides realistic project

timeline updates

● Creates materials lists based on project plansets in coordination with Project Managers

● Places material orders and coordinates site delivery or team pick up of materials

Field Work and Team Leadership

● Provides and maintains personal basic toolset and vehicle

● Manages and executes installation of framing components, foundations, walls, floors,

ceilings, and roofs using materials such as: wood, steel, metal, concrete, plastics, and

composites of multiple materials.

● Manages and executes fittings and installs of; window frames, doors, door frames, door

hardware, interior and exterior trim using a carpenter’s level and laser levels.

● Manages and executes erection of scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures

above ground levels.

● Manages and executes shaping and cuts materials to specified measurements, using

hand tools, machines, or power saws.

● Follows and enforces established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and

clean environment.

● Manages and executes builds or repairs cabinets, doors, frameworks, floors, or other

wooden fixtures used in buildings, using woodworking machines, hand tools, or power

tools.

● Manages and executes demolition and proper disposal of sections of structures using

appropriate and safe methods

● Inspects ceiling or floor tile, wall coverings, siding, trim for possible Asbestos or Lead

● Manages materials on jobsites to prevent damage and theft

● Manages daily set up and clean up worksites.

● Participates in Support Carpenter personnel management, hiring, and firing decisions

Work Hours & Benefits

This is an up to 40 hour/week field-based, physical labor position with some administrative

responsibilities. Shifts are generally M-F, 8:00a to 4:00pm. 

One hour of paid breaks per 8 hour

shift provided.

Time off is available upon request, with at least 7 days notice preferred. 

There are no formal benefits provided at this time, acknowledged with higher pay then comparable

positions. Fringe benefits include:

Carpenter Qualifications / Skills:

● Preferred: Minimum 5 years Field Carpentry experience

● Capable of receiving and following instructions and communicating with co-workers

● Capable of following company policies and procedures - developed on an ongoing basis

● Able to read and adhere to product/manufacturer labels, installation instructions, safety

warnings, and guidelines

● Attentive to detail and always alert to ensure safety of the team and jobsite

● 10 hour OSHA Safety Certification

● Preferred: Dwelling Contractor “Qualifier” License in State of Wisconsin

● Preferred: Lead Safe Remodeling Certification
