The Health Professions Career and Experiential Learning Advisor is a full-time professional staff member in the Career Center, created as part of a five-year pilot initiative to strengthen support for students pursuing mental health and other health professions. Reporting to the Career Center Dean, the Advisor is an integral member of the Career Center team, providing individualized career advising alongside a specialized portfolio in internship development, career coaching, and postgraduate advising for pre-health and mental-health-interested students across Lawrence’s academic programs.
The Health Professions Career Advisor and Experiential Learning Advisor builds and sustains relationships with local and regional healthcare organizations, mental health providers, and other internship hosts to expand students’ access to meaningful experiential learning opportunities. Through one-on-one coaching, workshops, and proactive outreach, the Advisor helps students develop the skills, professional networks, and confidence needed to pursue internships, employment, and graduate or professional study in health-related fields.
This position reflects Lawrence University’s commitment to equitable access to career development. Students pursuing health professions often face distinct barriers — limited professional networks, lack of specialized career coaching, and financial constraints — and this role is designed to address them directly.
