Director of Communications
The Director of Communications leads Children’s Theater of Madison’s written communications and storytelling across the organization, ensuring our work reflects CTM’s values of equity, inclusion, accessibility, and belonging through inclusive language and practices. As the steward of CTM’s voice, this role oversees public relations, marketing communications messaging, fundraising communications, and key communications projects from planning through execution. This position shapes how CTM communicates its mission, programs, and impact to audiences, donors, partners, and the broader community, ensuring messaging is clear, consistent, and aligned across all channels. The Director of Communications is a core member of CTM’s Strategic Advancement department, supporting both earned revenue, such as ticket sales and education programs, and contributed revenue, including donations, sponsorships, and grants. Working across disciplines, this role strengthens relationships with constituents, internal partners, and external stakeholders by translating strategy and operations into clear communications that reflect CTM’s voice. This role reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer.

WHAT YOU WILL RECEIVE: This is a full time, salary exempt position with a salary range of $55,000 to $62,000, with initial placement determined by relevant experience, demonstrated skills, and internal equity. You will work in a collaborative environment with space for focused, independent work, access to an onsite kitchen, and a team of creative, welcoming colleagues who care deeply about the work and about one another.
