NATURE AND SCOPE
This position reports to the VP, Commercial Banking Underwriting. Under direct supervision, underwrites new commercial loan requests, renewals, and annual reviews for management review. Prepares the appropriate credit analysis and risk rating package for review. Reviews collateral documents to include: appraisals, title policies, environmental reports, surveys, leases and construction contracts.


REQUIREMENTS
1. Bachelor’s degree in business or related field and at least 3 years of experience in a credit-based environment or financial institution. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
2. Course work or experience within accounting or financial analysis. Knowledge of business/commercial credit documentation and business collateral documents preferred.
3. Ability to gain proficiency software or systems used for credit analysis, and deposit and loan products.
4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, organizational skills and the ability to work independently as a valuable team member in a dynamic environment.
5. Demonstrated ability to use independent judgment and discretion in various situations while maintaining a high degree of confidentiality.
6. Must develop a thorough understanding of company policies and procedures as they relate to this position. Must comply with all company policies and procedures and all job-related state and federal laws and regulations.


PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Assists other roles in the department, using current software to scan and catalog documents and spread financial information.
2. Requests necessary financial statements for the completion of annual reviews as assigned by supervisor.
3. Completes annual reviews, assigned by supervisor, as per the requirements of the Commercial Loan Policy and the dates established in the credit analysis package. Analyzes and studies the trends to determine the appropriate risk rating. Makes recommendations on risk rating
changes. 4. Maintains annual review and risk rating reports.
5. Completes underwriting of simple credits as assigned/determined by supervisor. Collaborates with supervisor and Commercial Loan Officers to ensure all aspects of the underwriting process are completed and presented thoroughly so loans can be decisioned.
6. Helps identify concerns to provide feedback to Commercial Loan Officers and supervisory staff regarding any aspects of loans/annual reviews underwritten.
7. Assists with contacting business clients, accountants, attorneys or other necessary professionals to clarify questions related to the preparation of the credit analysis package as needed.
8. When appropriate, attends commercial loan appointments with Commercial Loan Officers to be part of the profiling process.
9. Requests and analyzes all necessary collateral documents and takes a proactive approach in resolving any issues.
10. Performs loan audit review work as assigned.
11. Performs other duties as assigned.
