Join the Wisconsin LGBT Chamber of Commerce for our inaugural Fox Valley area "Food for Thought" featuring Dr. Kimberly Barrett, Vice President for Diversity & Inclusion at Lawrence Unviersity. The objective of “Food for Thought” is to provide Chamber members an opportunity to have lunch and a discussion in a small group with a key community or business leader and hear their story.
Dr. Barrett joined the Lawrence community in August, 2016 after serving four years as vice president for multicultural affairs and community engagement at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, where she practiced a hands-on role in continuing to promote diversity, multiculturalism, Inclusion and community engagement. Prior to joining Wright State, Barrett served as vice president for student affairs at the University of Montevallo in Alabama. She served as the chief student affairs officer, providing services in support of student learning and personal development, which included supervising housing and residence life, disability support, multicultural affairs and student life offices. Barrett is a frequent presenter at regional, national and international conferences, she has delivered talks on “Diversity Education and the Public Good” and “Ten Years of Breaking Glass: A Black Feminist Reflects on Equity in Higher Education.” A native of Fort Jackson, S.C., Barrett earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Pfeiffer College in North Carolina, a master’s degree in clinical psychology from Murray State University and her Ph.D.in higher education administration from Southern Illinois University – Carbondale.
